Did 'Entourage' Star Kevin Connolly Get Canceled?
It takes one gig to change a career completely and for Kevin Connolly, after grinding 20 years in the business, that big break finally came in the form of 'Entourage'. The HBO show was a massive hit, so much so that fans are still discussing a possible reboot down the road.
Since the show, some fans might argue that Kevin has gone a little MIA since, and as it turns out, there's a reason for it. Gigs have dried up in recent years and in addition, he's taking on work behind the camera.
We'll identify his latest projects, along with run on 'Entourage'. In addition, we'll take a look at the controversy attached to his name and why he's getting cast a little less nowadays.
Some might argue that he got canceled from Hollywood in recent years.
'Entourage' Changed His Career
In the summer of 2004, Kevin Connolly's life changed forever. At that point, he had been in the business for two decades, taking on minor roles.
From the very first 'Entourage' episode, he was well aware that something special had taken place. His career had clearly changed thanks to the show, so much so that he actually had to move out of his apartment due to the fame.
“Entourage literally changed my life in a day, one day from the first episode. [It was] Saturday and then the show aired on Sunday night, and on Monday my life had changed completely,” Connolly explained. “I don’t know that I would call it my ‘I made it moment’ but it is something I will never forget because it was hard to wrap my head around it.''
“I had bounced around for so long and had been doing this for 20 years by then. I would then walk to my coffee place that I had been going to for 100 years, and heads would be turning when I walked in, it was strange. I lived in an apartment building and had to move out of my apartment building because people would be knocking at my door.”
Not only did the show last eight seasons, but it also had a film released as well. To this day, fans are still discussing a reboot. Its impact can still be felt today as fans continue to binge-watch the show.
Working Behind The Camera
Since his time on 'Entourage', Kevin has changed things up a bit, working behind the camera as well. The workload has slowed down on-camera, due to certain allegations that we'll cover a little later.
However, he did some work as a director on the film 'Dear Eleanor'. According to his words with Elite Daily, it was a much different experience compared to his 'Entourage' days.
"Being on 'Entourage' for so long, which is such a testosterone, male-driven show, I have nieces and younger people in my life who have really never gotten to watch anything I've been involved in..."
"So, when the opportunity came along, I was interested in this different kind of a subject matter, and I thought it would be cool to work with some super talented young actresses in sort of a female empowerment movie. And the '60s is my favorite time period, so diving into that world was fun."
Since then, the work has dried up a bit due to allegations that have surfaced from years ago.
Allegations & Tantrum
Kevin Connolly was yet another name added to the sexual assault list. The accusations came from Gracie Cox, a former assistant costume designer. According to the designer, Connolly forced himself onto her during a party. She issued a lengthy statement.
Connolly's team responded to the accusations, stating that the incident to take place in the early 2000s was a consensual one, ''Kevin strongly supports victims of sexual assault and believes their claims should always be heard. As someone who has worked in this industry for four decades, he has treated people with nothing but respect and has maintained a stellar reputation. Therefore, he was completely shocked to learn of the allegations made by Gracie Cox from a wrap party in 2005."
As if that story wasn't tough enough to digest for the 'Entourage' star, TMZ ran a story on him in March, detailing his tantrum after his Tesla got towed out in LA outside of a flower shop.
The spots are reserved for the clients and it is said that Kevin parked there on the regular for his podcast. He was not a happy man when his car was removed, let's just say.
